Khon Kaen, Thailand
Khon Kaen is a province in Thailand located in the center of the North-Eastern part of the country, 450 kilometers north of Bangkok. Also located in heart of Isan which comprises all of the North-East region of Thailand. This area is the fastest growing part of Thailand with its many amities it attracts people from many other areas. This city has all the traditional architecture plus many modern buildings. There are many great hotels, restaurants, and bars.
The city is known for its outstanding university which attracted students from all over Thailand. The best medical school is also located in Khon Kaen who’s doctors not only teach at the medical school, but they also practice medicine at the local hospitals. The university also has a Natural History museum which is very interesting to see.
There are many nice golf courses in this area and the city’s location helps keep the weather good for golfing year-round. One of the popular places to go is the Phu Wiang Dinosaur Museum, which is a geological museum mainly exhibiting fossils. They have a couple of animated dinosaurs that are interesting to watch.
Khon Kaen is easy to get to. The smaller airlines in Thailand have direct commercial flights. Plus, one of the main highways running north and south runs directly through the heart of the city. Many bus companies have trips as well as many VIP van companies.
Another couple of hours north, you’ll find Udon Thani, another great city in Thailand.
This is the rice trading center of this part of Thailand and they have an annual Silk Festival where you will find the finest and most beautiful silk products.
